Kaylee is a community support professional and has worked for Apace for 9 years. Kaylee describes working for Apace as compassionate, innovative, and teamwork.
What does a normal day look like for you?
The group of ladies I work with at Sun Valley have a meeting each morning at 9 am to go over our plan for the day. Our team really thrives on seeing and interacting with animals so 3x a week we plan on going to a local pet store, safari park, or zoo.
Tell us about a time you were proud of an individual you serve.
I worked with someone who struggled with their anxiety and would immediately jump to the “negative” in situations. This was impairing their ability to interact with people, and I wanted to help them. By teaching them coping techniques we learned from a therapist they have been able to independently reverse their train of thought more frequently. Daily outbursts of frustration have become less common, friendships are improving, and hearing them tell me how much happier they are fills me with immense pride!
What do you like to do when you aren’t working?
When I’m not working, I enjoy spending time with my family. We bond by taking part in karate, cosplay, and watching Star Wars and superhero media. If you could have any superpower, what would it be? The ability to communicate in any language, including with animals.
