This fall, Kalyb Fortney reached an exciting milestone on his path to independence. While completing his extended school year services with Apace, Kalyb became gainfully employed and received his very first paycheck. One of his personal goals was to learn how to manage his own money, including opening a bank account for the first time. With support from Apace and assistance from his mom, Kalyb gathered the necessary documents and confidently visited the bank to open his own account. The experience was both empowering and meaningful for Kalyb, marking a new level of responsibility and independence. Proud of his accomplishment, Kalyb used his own money to make his first purchase, a brand-new pair of Nike tennis shoes. He is excited about the future and has big plans as he continues building money skills and working toward his goals.
