A New Chapter of Independence

This past year marked an important milestone for Sarah as she transitioned into a new stage of independence. At age 31, Sarah moved out of her childhood home, where she had lived with her parents her entire life, and into a Shared Living Provider (SLP) arrangement with her sister and family. This change has provided Sarah with new opportunities to make independent choices, develop daily living skills, and explore new activities within a supportive environment. Alongside this transition, Sarah has continued her long-term employment at the local elementary school, where she has worked in the lunchroom since 2018. Her ability to balance a familiar routine with meaningful new experiences reflects both her growth and dedication. Sarah’s story highlights how supportive living options can empower individuals to build independence while maintaining strong family and community connections.
